In the Summer of 2016, Soul Food Cypher organized an unforgettable event in support of our WordShop program.
The Edgewood Block Party was held at one of Atlanta’s busiest intersections- Boulevard Drive and Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward community. The Block Party brought together musicians, visual artists, community members and community leaders to raise funds to create and sustain Soul Food Cypher’s innovative afterschool program, WordShop.
The city’s best and brightest participated to make this event a unique success. Some of Atlanta’s best DJs, such as the legendary DJ Jelly, Hourglass, DJ Precyse, DJ Deliver provided the soundtrack for the occasion. Artists at the forefront of Atlanta’s newest wave of music, FRKO, Brandon Sadler, Miya Bailey, Chabangna, Killamari, and a host of others lent their talents to help fundraise through a silent auction.
Several businesses from the Old Fourth Ward Business Association contributed to the success of the event including Sound Table, Edgewood Pizza, Citizens Trust Bank, Stoney’s Barbershop, V103, Wingate Companies, with additional support from ArtPlace America.
